Barbora Krejcikova vs Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova: Preview

The last match of the Women’s Singles is just a day away and nobody could’ve predicted it 2 weeks ago when the draw was out. 31st seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova will be up against 2018 Doubles Champion Barbora Krejcikova.
Pavlyuchenkova is coming into the final with an easy straight sets win over Tamara Zidansek. The Russian defeated her young opponent 7-5,6-3 to reach her first grand slam final. She has beaten some serious title contenders en route the final. She upset third seed Aryna Sabalenka in the third round before getting the better of 15th seed Victoria Azarenka in the Round of 16. She then beat Elena Rybakina, the conqueror of Serena Williams in the quarterfinals.
As for her opponent, Barbora Krejcikova, she has displayed mental strength like nobody else in the whole tournament. Unseeded in the draw, she beat 32nd seed Ekaterina Alexandrova in the second round before upsetting 5th seed Elina Svitolina in the third round.
She then defeated two hard hitting Americans, Sloane Stephens and Coco Gauff in the following two rounds and then had to save match point against Maria Sakkari in a three set epic in the semifinals.
Barbora Krejcikova vs Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova: Head-to-Head

This will be the first meeting between the duo. The two haven’t met on tour yet and hence their H2H stands deadlock at 0-0.
Barbora Krejcikova vs Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova: Prediction

It will be a very unpredictable game as both the players haven’t played before and have very contrasting game style. Pavlyuchenkova is a quick mover and generates a lot of topspin from the baseline in her shots while Krejcikova defends very well with her slices and lobs. The Russian is very good on the forehand while the Czech is the strongest on her backhand.
This could turn out to be a treat to watch and could very well go down the distance. The players will have nerves as it is their first Major Final but given Pavlyuchenkova’s maturity on court and nerves, she would come out the winner.
Prediction: Pavlyuchenkova to win in three sets and lift the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen.
