Petra Kvitová

Petra Kvitova makes it to the semi-finals of the Ostrava Open after beating Jil Teichman 6-4, 6-4 in the quarter-finals. Petra is now into the 3rd semi-final of the season having won the 2021 Doha Open earlier in the season. After a difficult 3-set win in the first round, Petra looked in better touch in the quarter-finals after having received a bye in the first round given her high seeding.

Anett Kontaveit reaches the 3rd semi-final of the season. Anett was the winner at the recently concluded 2021 Cleveland Open and was the runner-up at the 2021 Eastbourne International. She enters another semi-final after beating Olympic Gold medallist Belinda Bencic 6-4, 6-3 in the quarter-finals and is yet to drop a set this week in Ostrava.

Petra will come into the tie with a season record of 28-15 across all surfaces while Anett is 29-14 for the season. While Petra has not made a deep run in a tournament for a while, Anett is fresh off a title and will look to repeat the feat in Ostrava. Kvitova still remains the favourite given her larger experience but Anett’s form and fighting spirit will make it an interesting match.

Prediction: Petra Kvitova to win in 3-sets.
