Latest WTA Rankings post 2023 Australian Open: Iga Swiatek maintains her massive lead, Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina reach career-highs

The first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open, has finished successfully with fifth seed Aryna Sabalenka coming out as the victor. Sabalenka defeated twenty-second seed Elena Rybakina by a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. This was Sabalenka’s maiden Grand Slam title. As a result, the WTA rankings have experienced a massive shift.

And with it, she regained her career-high world No. 2 ranking. Adding 1,760 points to her already impressive tally, Sabalenka now has 6,100 points to her name. The 22-year-old has overtaken Tunisian Ons Jabeur, who sits firmly in the third spot with 5,210 points.

Due to her second-round exit, Jabeur has slipped a spot and sits at world number three. Both Jessica Pegula and Caroline Garcia have slipped a spot each. They were ranked 3 and 4 entering the Australian Open. Following losses at the quarterfinal and fourth round stages, respectively, Pegula and Garcia are ranked 4 and 5 in the world now.

New WTA Rankings post 2023 Australian Open

Multiple Grand Slam champion Viktoria Azarenka reached the final four of the tournament. Consequently, her WTA ranking has jumped a massive 8 spots. She’s now ranked 16th in the world. Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina has jumped 15 spots and finally cracked the top-10 bracket. She now sits in the 10th position. Magda Linette has experienced a massive climb. She was world no. 45 at the start of the tournament, but has jumped 23 spots in the rankings and is now world no. 22.

Veronika Kudermetova has dropped two spots and is now out of the top-10 rankings. She is at #11 with 2,740 points.
