The wait for Grand Slam action is over as the Australian Open 2022 is set to begin shortly, in 4 days time to be precise. The first Slam of the season will be held at the Melbourne Park in Melbourne and is sure to bring some great battles for the fortnight before it concludes on 30th January.
The Grand Slam will see Naomi Osaka and Novak Djokovic as the defending champions for the women’s singles and men’s singles respectively. Osaka is a 2-time champion at the Slam and will look for her 5th major while Djokovic is a 9-time champion at Melbourne Park and is on the hunt for his record-breaking 21st career Grand Slam title.
In the battle for the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup, the top-3 seeds are Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev with only Djokovic being the player to have won the cup earlier. For the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup, the top-3 seeds are Ash Barty, Aryna Sabalenka and Garbine Muguruza with only Muguruza being the one to have played in the finals of the Australian Open.
