Ash Barty gives out a roar after winning the Championship point at the 2022 Australian Open

World No. 1 Ash Barty showed why she is the number 1 ranked player as she battled past Danielle Collins to win her 3rd Grand Slam title and her first-ever Australian Open title. Barty won the finals of the 2022 Australian Open defeating Collins 6-3, 7-6(2) in 1 hour and 27 minutes in a fantastic comeback in the second set when she was 1-5 down.

Barty was undoubtedly the home favourite and the crowd loved every single point that the 25-year old won against Collins and cheered for her throughout the match. With many expecting the match to go into the 3rd set, Barty’s resolve was enough to finish it in straight-sets as she lifted her first-ever Australian Open trophy in Melbourne Park.

  • Ash Barty becomes the first Australian winner of an Australian Open Singles title in 44 years.
