Several top-rated stars are set to make their presence felt and win big at the US Open 2021. The marquee tournament showers the big bucks on winners, as well as on the players who make the final draws. So needless to say, fierce competition can be expected.

In the women’s singles, Naomi Osaka would be hoping to regain her lost form by defending her title at the US Open. The 2018 and 2020 US Open champion has been delivered some truly incredible performances at the US Open. However, her recent form hasn’t been very good.

After Osaka withdrew from the 2021 French Open citing mental health issues, the star player hasn’t been able to bring out her A-game. She was defeated only in the third round at the Tokyo Olympics in brutal fashion by Markéta Vondroušová. Marketa won the game in straight sets without much hassle which made the defeat even more agonizing for Osaka.

Ashleigh Barty and Aryna Sabalenka: The top two seeds at US Open 2021

Ashleigh Barty has been truly sensational this season. She scripted history after winning the Wimbledon 2021 and carried her form in the Cincinnati Open where she defeated Jil Teichmann in straight sets to lift the trophy. Although Barty had a disappointing run at the Olympics, her performance at Cincinnati proved that she is well and truly back in form.

On the other hand, Aryna Sabalenka had decent outings at Wimbledon and Canadian Open, but she was unable to reach the finals in both tournaments. Moreover, she will come into the US Open after a disastrous outing at Cincinnati Open where she was knocked out in her first encounter.

Needless to say, competition will be super tough in women’s singles at Wimbledon and it won’t be a surprise if we see Naomi Osaka make a thumping comeback. She might have been out of form, but she relished playing at the US Open and who knows, this just might be the tournament she was waiting for.
