2019 US Open runner-up Daniil Medvedev will begin his 2021 campaign against French veteran Richard Gasquet. Medvedev is currently on a career high ranking of No.2 on account of his brilliant 2021 season. He reached the final of the Australian Open and has won 4 titles this year. Latest, he won the Mallorca Open before reaching the Round of 16 at Wimbledon.

In the North American Swing, he won the Toronto Masters and then reached the semifinals of the Cincinnati Masters. He is also one of the strongest contenders to win the US Open after Novak Djokovic.
