Andrey Rublev has had a stellar 2022 season. The Russian began with a third-round exit at the Australian Open, but since then Rublev has been in impeccable form. Rublev ended his title drought at ATP Marseille Open, before clinching his second consecutive title at the Dubai Tennis Championships. His run at the Indian Wells ended in the semi-finals to eventual champion Taylor Fritz. Having received a first-round bye, the Russian will begin his campaign in Miami against Kyrgios

Nick Kyrgios defeated Adrian Mannarino in the opening round 7-6(3), 6-3 to progress to the second round. The first set was an even affair but Kyrgios put on a dominant serving display throughout the match to knock out the Frenchman. At the Indian Wells, the Australian came very close to ending Rafael Nadal’s unbeaten streak this year but lost in a 3-set thriller. But Kyrgios has brought forth the momentum to the second half of the Sunshine Doubles at the Miami Open with a clinical display in his opener.

Kyrgios has played only a handful of matches this year but has brought his A-game every time. He is on a 5-2 record this year, with his two defeats coming in the hands of Daniil Medvedev and Rafael Nadal. The Australian sometimes falters to uncanny defeats but when is on top of his game, he is one of the top players on tour.

That said, Rublev isn’t an easy opponent either. The Russian is on an 18-3 record this year and will be looking to make another deep run this year having made the semifinal last year. Regardless of the result, the match is set to be a thoroughly entertaining one with end-to-end stuff from both players. The Russian has more matches under his belt this year and if the match goes the distance, this might play in Rublev’s favor.

Prediction: Andrey Rublev to win in three sets.
