Iga Swiatek is currently in the form of her life. She is the best player on the women’s tour by a mile and after Ash Barty’s retirement, she has become the new World No.1. She is currently on a 16-match winning streak and is looking to complete a hattrick of WTA 1000 titles. She started the season by making it to the semifinal of the Australian Open and then had a Round of 16 outing at Dubai Tennis Championships.
After that, she won the Qatar Open and followed it up with another title triumph at Indian Wells. This week in Miami, she is yet to drop a set and defeated the likes of Viktorija Golubic, Madison Brengle, and Coco Gauff before beating Petra Kvitova in the quarterfinal. In the semifinal, she blasted past Jessica Pegula in straight sets 6-2,7-5.
Ever since the 2021 French Open, Naomi Osaka has struggled with form. After multiple breaks, she finally returned to tour at Melbourne earlier this year where she made it to the semifinal of the Melbourne Summer Series 1 before bowing out in the third round of the Australian Open. She was then knocked out of the second round at Indian Wells.
In Miami this week, she got the better of Angelique Kerber, Karolina Muchova, and Alison Riske in the earlier rounds before smashing Danielle Collins in the quarterfinal. She then defeated Belinda Bencic in the semifinal in three sets 4-6,6-3,6-4.

This is Osaka’s first Tour final since the 2021 Australian Open and on the contrary, this is Swiatek’s third consecutive WTA 1000 final. The Pole will start the favorite because of her recent form but she will be wary of Osaka’s big match temperament. Both women haven’t lost any big final (WTA 1000 and grand slam) and hence we can expect a thriller. Swiatek will most likely prevail and complete a hattrick of WTA 1000 titles.
