John Millman will play in his 8th French Open when he begins his campaign in the French Open 2021. The 31-year old Australian made his debut in the 2010 French Open and for the past 5 successive seasons, he has been knocked out in the first round and failed to reach the 2nd round. He has a 1-7 record at the tournament with his only win coming in the qualifying round.
This will be his 7th Clay tournament of the season and his best result so far at the Munich Open 2021 where he reached the quarter-finals. In the 3 Masters tournament on Clay, he has failed to go past the Round of 32.
Gianluca Mager will play his 3rd French Open tournament at this year’s French Open 2021. The 26-year old Italian similar to Millman is yet to go past the first round after getting knocked out in the qualifying rounds at the 2019 French Open and a 1st round defeat in the 2020 French Open which was his debut in the main draw of the Grand Slam. He has a record of 1-2 in the tournament.
This will be his 10th ATP Tour tournament on Clay this season. He has been fairly busy on the Challenger level as well winning a title at the Marbella Challenger. He has however failed to reach a final on the ATP Tour with his best result coming at the Serbia Open 2021 where he was defeated by eventual champion Aslan Karatsev in the quarter-finals.
