The Novak Djokovic controversy just doesn’t seem to end. The most recent development in the saga included Djokovic’s appeal against his deportation being rejected for the second time, which means that the Serb would imminently be deported from Australia. The whole saga has caused a massive uproar in the tennis world and the world in general, with people split between taking sides between Djokovic and the Australian government.

The whole saga started when the World No.1 refused to publically reveal his vaccination status according to Australian government guidelines, this throwing his Australian Open participation under major doubt. However, despite contrary interviews by Australian Open and government officials, Djokovic not only received a visa to enter the country, but also was named in the Australian Open draw. However, the government then revealed that the visa was generated due to a technical error, announcing Djokovic’s deportation. As of now, the saga seems to have ended with the Serb’s appeal being rejected by the court, but don’t be surprised if the matter takes a few more turns.

The 22 year old also urged his Serbian compatriots at the tournament to give their all for Djokovic.

Finally in his post, which was written in Serbian, Kecmanovic wished Djokovic luck for the future and reiterated his belief that the World No.1 will win even more Grand Slams in the future.

“ Bitter pill to be taken before the tournament even started! I can’t even imagine how Novak feels, what he’s been through in the last ten days… I was looking forward to having the honor of opening this year’s tournament with the world’s first player on the central court of Rod Laver Arena. Unfortunately, what I’ve been thinking about for the last seven days from the moment the draw was made doesn’t make any sense now,” read the Instagram post by Kecmanovic when translated in English.

“Our little Serbian team here in Melbourne is bitter and disappointed and I think that now needs to go the extra mile, and with their games to get revenge on our best representative who is unable to be here in some way. I have faith that you will win more Grand Slams and that this will not stop you from creating a historic success. We are all with you”.
