The 2022 Formula 1 season will commence in less than a month’s time and the drivers along with the teams have started gearing up for the mega season. The car reveal for 2022 is underway marking the beginning of the season. At McLaren’s MCL36 launch event, Lando Norris did a rapid-fire round with ESPN where he answered some tricky questions.

Norris, who is the youngest driver on the current grid, was very witty with his responses but at times chose to be diplomatic. He was asked to choose between tennis legends, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, but Norris wasn’t going to disappoint any of the fan bases. He took a long pause to think and then turned to his teammate Daniel Ricciardo for help. He asked Dany Ric who is the Australian who plays tennis, and at the end chose Aussie showman Nick Kyrgios instead of both Federer and Nadal.

Kyrgios recently took to social media to address Norris and lauded him. He told Norris to keep being himself and inspire others. “My fucking guy!!! Keep being you and inspiring brother ??” Kyrgios wrote.

During the same rapid-fire round, after a long thought, Lando chose Verstappen over Hamilton. This came as a shock to many as Hamilton has previously lauded Norris so many times. Infamously, Hamilton appreciated Lando’s driving skills during the Austrian Grand Prix last year. “What a driver, Lando,” he said. Adding to it, both Norris and Hamilton are British, giving extra context to their relationship.

But digging deep, Norris and Verstappen have in a way grown together. They have raced together since the karting days and share a very strong bond, hence picking Verstappen over Hamilton is understandable. Last year, Lando finished with an impressive 6th position in the driver’s championship in the last season with 160 points to his name. He will want to improve this season and hope that MCL36 is a race-winning car.
