“My opponents find it hard” Carlos Alcaraz issues a warning ahead of his clash with Stefanos Tsitsipas in the 2022 Miami Masters
Carlos Alcaraz and Stefanos Tsitsipas
World No. 16 Carlos Alcaraz continues to impress on the Tour as he moves into the 4th round of the 2022 Miami Masters. Up against former US Open champion Marin Cilic, Alcaraz beat the Croatian in straight-sets having earlier picked up a similar result against Marton Fucsovics in the second round.
Having reached the semi-finals in the 2022 Indian Wells Masters in the last week, the Spanish teenager is having another impressive run on the hardcourts of the USA and is giving champion players a run for their money. As he now prepares to take on World No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas for the second time, the teen revealed what makes him stand out at such a young age.
It will be the second meeting between Stef and Carlos having earlier met in the 3rd round of the 2021 US Open when Carlos beat the Greek No. 1 in a thrilling 5-setter that had two tiebreakers and a bagel by Stef but it was not enough to overcome the teen. With another important match coming up, Carlos talks about his planning ahead of a match.
“I am very aggressive. I try to play very solid and fast, and when I do, my opponents find it hard to get used to my tactics and that’s why I win the games I win. You must take care of the details and have clear objectives. That’s what Juan Carlos (coach) always tells me. I started very well. It was important to gain confidence from the start, that was the key, to leave with an advantage at the start,” said Carlos as reported by Welovetennis.
Carlos Alcaraz loving the crowd in Miami
Making his second appearance at the Miami Masters having suffered a first-round defeat in 2021, Carlos has already struck a chord with the crowd in Miami. The Spaniard also talked about the love he feels from the crowd and what is the factor that connects him with them despite making just his 2nd trip to the Miami Gardens.
“I think the public appreciated my game, with the drop shots and being very offensive. I would say that people here like this style, in Miami, because a lot of people, like me, speak Spanish,” added Carlos who feels closer to home in Miami despite being more than 4000 miles away from Spain.
