“Thank God it’s over”: Naomi Osaka is excited that 2021 is finally gone

Naomi Osaka is one of the biggest names in the world of tennis. At such a young age, the star player has been through a lot. She rose to fame by defeating one of the greatest tennis players of all time in one of the most controversial US Open finals of all time back in 2018.
A teary-eyed Osaka picked up the coveted trophy and became a globally renowned superstar in no time. Post that, a lot was expected from her and it would be fair to say that she did deliver on several instances. She went on to win the Australian Open title twice and won the US Open title yet again in 2020.

In fact, she started off the 2021 season in an emphatic style by bamboozling her opponents in the Australian Open. However, post that, things started going south when she stepped into the 2021 French Open. Osaka refused to interact with the Press after her French Open matches which wasn’t liked by the authorities.
As a result, a fine was imposed on her but Osaka had other plans. She decided to withdraw mid-tournament. Although she attracted criticism for her actions early on, people came in her support as her actions forced people to start a conversation about mental health.
After a break, Osaka returned to the court at the Olympics but failed to impress. Post that, she came into the US Open, the tournament from where she rose to fame and everybody thought that she will finally recreate the magic, however, fate had other ideas.
She was knocked out of the tournament in the third round by young Leylah Fernandez after which, Osaka claimed that she will take an indefinite break from the game. Recently, Osaka took to Twitter to announce that she is extremely elated that 2021 is finally over.
Without a doubt, 2021 wasn’t Osaka’s year. She did well at the start but then things went awry. However, we can expect a thumping comeback from the star athlete in 2021.
