Naomi Osaka has had a rollercoaster season this year. The current World No. 8 started the year as the World No. 3 and after claiming her 4th Grand Slam title at the 2021 Australian Open which was also her 2nd victory at the Melbourne Park, the Japanese superstar rose to World No. 2 as she won back-to-back Slams after being the champion at the 2020 US Open as well.

Osaka’s most recent appearance on the Tour came at the 2021 US Open where she was on a receiving end of a 3rd round defeat by 19-year old Leylah Fernandez who eventually became the runner-up at the Grand Slam. Naomi then attended the Met Gala 2021 where she was one of the co-chairs at this year’s Gala.

Naomi recently took to her Instagram handle to share some latest images of her along with her singer and rapper boyfriend Cordae with whom she is in a relationship since 2019 after they met at a basketball game of the LA Clippers. Naomi has had a lot on her plate this season. After a good start to the season winning the 2021 Australian Open against Jennifer Brady in the final and had dropped only 1 set in the Slam throughout. Since then she is yet to reach a semi-final with her quarter-final run at the 2021 Miami Open her best result since Australia.

She had a difficult Clay season failing to reach the Round of 16 in any of her appearances on the surface. Her big revelation at the 2021 French Open where she refused to speak to the media and later revealed that she is battling mental issues, she faced a great deal of criticism from the media and many former players as well but many more supported her to standing up for her mental health.

She returned to tennis at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics where she lost in the 3rd round and had a similar fate at the 2021 Cincinnati Open and the 2021 US Open. With 3 months more left in the season, Naomi will surely look to improve her performances as now all tournaments are on hardcourts, her preferred surface.
