Naomi Osaka makes a shocking admission following third round loss at US Open 2021

Naomi Osaka, defending champion at US Open 2021 was defeated in the third round by the Canadian youngster, Leylah Fernandez in three sets. The Japanese won the opening set, but lost the next two rounds to end her title defense at US Open this year.
The third seed was not quite at her best in the third round encounter, as she managed to win just about 46% on her first serve. Speaking in the post-match press conference, Naomi Osaka was disappointed to have lost the match, and make a shocking revelation.
Naomi Osaka has battled mental health issues ever since her US Open 2018 triumph, as stated by her. The world number three pulled out of French Open 2021, as she was battling with anxiety and other personal issues.
“Recently when I win, I don’t feel happy, I feel more like a relief. And then when I lose, I feel very sad. I don’t think that’s normal,” said Osaka.
Naomi Osaka needs a break from tennis
Naomi Osaka said that she does not know as to when she will be playing her next tennis match, and that she would take a break from tennis.
“I honestly don’t know when I’m going to play my next tennis match. I think I’m going to take a break from playing for a while,” Osaka added.
Ever since Naomi Osaka won the Australian Open title earlier this year, things have seemed to go downhill for her, as she has failed to win any major title since then. She made early round exits at US Open and Tokyo Olympics. Moreover, she had pulled out of Wimbledon and French Open, owing to mental health issues. Hence, it will be interesting to see what lies next in store for the world number three.
