French Open 2021: Naomi Osaka tweets out at haters, questions their understanding of events
Naomi Osaka
Naomi Osaka sailed through to the second round of the French Open 2021 after beating Patricia Maria Țig the World No.63 from Romania in straight sets 6-4 7-6. It was time for the customary press conferences, Oh wait! Maybe not. Osaka of course was not participating in any press conference this time in Paris.
Naomi Osaka may not have been part of a press conference but she did put out a tweet, which was aimed at her haters. Osaka has clapped back at the people who had criticized her decision to boycott the press at the French Open 2021. What did she actually say, let’s find out.
Naomi Osaka vs French Open, who said what and the story so far
Naomi Osaka had announced via twitter that she would not be attending any press conferences at this year’s French Open. She had said this was to protect her mental health, and nothing personal against the press or the French Open. After that several French tennis officials had come out and criticized the decision taken by Naomi Osaka. But Osaka has still not budged from her decision and prefers to pay a fine rather than talk to the media post match.
Some players like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal were still in favor of tennis players doing press conferences after matches. Iga Swiatek and Ash Barty too think it’s part of the job to do press conferences.
It’s amply clear now that Osaka will have to fight her own battles as associations and players seem to not quite agree with what Osaka is doing at the moment. Also in the news is the fact that all Grand Slams agave come together and are ‘advising’ Osaka against not continuing with this stand that she has taken, in fact they have even threatened her with tougher sanctions in the future, maybe even suspension.
Naomi Osaka reply to haters after fined for 15000$
Naomi Osaka as we all know will not be attending any post match press conferences at the French Open 2021. She has in fact already paid a fine of $15,000 for missing the First round press conference.
But she did put up a tweet. The tweet by Naomi Osaka read, “Anger is a lack of understanding. change makes people uncomfortable.” Osaka has through this msg taken a sly dig at the French Tennis Officials and also some of the players who had criticized her. Osaka next faces 102nd-ranked Ana Bogdan, who swept aside Italian qualifier Elisabetta Cocciaretto 6-1, 6-3.
