Matches to watch out for on Day 5 at the 2024 Miami Open

Naomi Osaka vs. Elina Svitolina

A decade-old rivalry will come back alive when Naomi Osaka and Elina Svitolina take on each other in the second round of the 2024 Miami Open. The two players have enjoyed playing each other in the past with the head-to-head record level at 3-3.

Both players have won matches two and fro. However, as things have changed a lot over the years, it will be interesting to see how the two players will fare against each other. Osaka is coming on the back of a dominant win in the first round, while Svitolina has been enjoying a decent run. Also, the Ukrainian won the match when they played against each other last time in Miami.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Denis Shapovalov

Stefanos Tsitsipas has not been doing great as per his reputation. The Greek ace has not won a title in a long time and has made only one quarterfinal in the 2024 season so far. Now, as the 25-year-old gears up to open his campaign at the 2024 Miami Open, it is to be seen how Tsitsipas fares against Denis Shapovalov.

The Greek trails 2-3 in the head-to-head record between the two players with Shapovalov winning two of the last three encounters. It will be interesting to see how Tsitsipas manages to topple his Canadian counterpart when the two players meet on Saturday.

Maria Sakkari vs. Dayana Yastremska

Maria Sakkari enjoyed a great run at the 2024 Indian Wells Open as the Greek ace reached the final. However, she could not convert it into a title with Iga Swiatek reigning supreme yet again. Nevertheless, Sakkari has a chance to replicate her performance as she opens her campaign at the 2024 Miami Open.

She will meet Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska in the second round. Yastremska has been playing well recently as she made it to the semifinals at the 2024 Australian Open. It will be the first meeting between the two players which makes the contest even more interesting.

In case you missed!
