Andy Murray, who was Knighthood by the Royal Family following his spectacular Wimbledon win honours Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s memory ahead of this week’s Davis Cup. The upcoming match is to be held against the USA on Wednesday in Glasgow. The two-time Grand Slam champion feels that the tie would unite the hearts of Britons in remembrance of the Queen and celebrate her owing to the work she’s done in Great Britain. Murray while honouring her memory stated, “these few days when Great Britain is competing, there will be a chance to celebrate her and everything that she did.”

Andy Murray, in his statement to Sky Sports, while paying tribute to the Queen Elizabeth II was quoted as saying: “She obviously had an amazing life. It’s obviously been a very sad week with the news about the Queen passing away, but I think here will be a chance for everyone to show how much she meant to everyone.”
The 35-year-old was Knighted by the Royal Family when he won Wimbledon and procured a gold medal at the Olympic Games for the second time. Murray said a minute’s silence will be observed before the Davis Cup tie for the crowd to pay their respects. He further said: “It’s obviously been a very sad week with the news about the Queen passing away, but I think there will be a chance for everyone to show how much she meant to everyone.”
Queen Elizabeth II passed away after more than 70 years on the throne on September 8 at her residence in Balmoral, Buckingham Palace. She ruled longer than any other monarch in British history.
Murray, who is part of a five-member team Great Britain Davis Cup squad, reminisced about the Queen’s presence at Wimbledon. “I was very fortunate to get the opportunity to play in front of her and compete at Wimbledon when she came along to watch which was a really nice memory for me.”
The former world No.1 was also quoted as saying: “It’s obviously great to be playing back in the Davis Cup, representing Great Britain again, I’ve always loved doing it, especially here at the Emirates.”
