Alex Molcan and Carlos Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz‘s name is on every tennis fan’s name. He was the story of the season. The Spaniard won 4 ATP singles titles of which 2 are ATP 1000 tournaments. He also won his career’s first Grand Slam title- the US Open 2022 this year. But the topic of the town is not his wins but how he won his every match and his sense of the game.
Alex Molcan is the highest-ranked Slovak player in the world. He played against Carlos Alcaraz only once in his career. They faced each other in the semi-final round of the Hamburg European Open 2022. In this match, the World No.1 defeated the Slovak 7-6, 6-1.
However, this encounter was enough for Alex Molcan to become the World No.1’s, admirer.
“Alcaraz’s shots are so fast, it’s unbelievable. He plays with mad aggression. He is in good shape, he runs, he puts everything back. Djokovic too, he runs incredibly. But they are different players. With Alcaraz it was a tough game actually, it was really tough. As soon as you put a short ball on his forehand, it’s probably over. So it’s different”, Molcan told the ATP.
Carlos Alcaraz wants to Wimbledon 2023 title

The youngest World No.1 in ATP history, Carlos Alcaraz, has his sights set on more glory. He won the 2022 US Open, the first Grand Slam of his career. But he wants to win more Grand Slam titles. In a recent interview, he reminisced on his 2022 season. Some great memories have been associated with it.
“It has been a dream season for me. So many titles, big titles. First one is when I won Miami. When I won Barcelona. US Open. That’s for sure. I would say when I realized that I’m going to end as No 1, and when I won Madrid as well,” he said as reported by the British daily The Express.
However, he would not be satisfied by winning a single Grand Slam title. He set his goals on the next targets. “To win my second Grand Slam, I would say that’s the goal for the new year. I want more,” he continued. When the reporter egged him to tell him the name of the Grand Slam title he wanted to win in 2023. “Wimbledon would be fine for me,” he added further.
However, this may not be easy for Carlos Alcaraz. Novak Djokovic is the current champion of Wimbledon champion. He defeated Nick Kyrgios in the final to clinch his 7th Wimbledon title. Moreover, World No.1 has struggled on the grass surface.
His best performance, here, came last year when he reached the fourth round of the tournament but lost to Jannik Sinner 6-1, 4-6, 6-7, 3-6. As World No.1 he will be starting his career’s first season. Everyone’s eyes will be on him. Hence, Carlos Alcaraz has to step up if he wants to win another Grand Slam title.
