Alexander Bublik got brutally hit by fans on social media following his loss to Ugo Humbert at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis championship final. The 26-year-old made it easy for Humbert to snatch a 6-4, 6-3 win in an hour and twenty-six minutes.
Bublik, who defeated a defaulted Andrey Rublev in the semifinals, was no match to a ferocious Humbert. The Frenchman used his powerful forehand to push Bublik deep, striking 27 winners. Fans were expecting Bublik to push for his second career ATP title, after earning his first in Montpellier last month.
On X (formerly known as Twitter), fans were left stunned at the unserious attitude of the seven-time ATP runners-up, as many labeled his poor performance as a lack of passion.
“Bublik does not do Tennis justice with these clownish attitudes. And he loses too,” a fan reacted.
Another fan wrote: “That’s why Bublik will never move to the next level. Clowning will always come out.”
“Bublik is just so unserious. Just hate betting on his matches.”
Alexander Bublik will hope to put this ugly defeat behind him as he travels for the American double at the Indian Wells Masters and Miami Open. However, he will climb to No.14 on Monday, above his present No. 21 ranking on the ATP.
