Alexander Zverev fined €450,000 by German court for physical assault on former partner Brenda Patea

German tennis player Alexander Zverev has been found guilty by the Berlin public prosecutor’s office for physically abusing and injuring his ex-partner Brenda Patea. Due to this, he has been handed a whopping penalty of €450,000, which he has to pay over a period of 90 days in installments of €5000.
Patea had accused Zverev of physical violence and lodged a case against him for a long time, and the court has finally taken action against Alexander Zverev.
The defendant is accused of physically abusing a woman and damaging her health as part of an argument in Berlin in May 2020.the court wrote (H/T: Bild)
It must be noted that according to German law, Alexander Zverev would be considered a criminal only if he had to pay the amount for more than 90 days. Thus, the player is safe in that aspect.
Alexander Zverev’s criminal defense team has totally refused all charges levied against him and decided to file an objection against the decision.
Mr. Zverev rejects the accusation made against him. The allegations made by the complainant alone on which the penalty order is based have already been confirmed by a forensic medical report from the recognized Berlin forensic doctor Prof. Dr. Tsokos, Charité Berlin, refuted.Defense lawyers Prof. Dr. Alfred Dierlamm and Katharina Dierlamm explained.
Alexander Zverev himself denied all allegations against him back in June. He denies having physically harmed his ex-partner in any way whatsoever. Zverev was accused of physical violence by her former girlfriend, Olga Sharipova, too.
Alexander Zverev starts his 2023 Paris Masters campaign with a comeback win
While at home, Alexander Zverev’s representatives are fighting the lawsuit for him; the player is busy with the Paris Masters. He already beat Martin Fucsovics 4-6, 6-5, 6-4 in a comeback win in the first round of the tournament to set its tone. He will now face Ugo Humbert in the round of 32.

Zverev is the tenth seed in the 2023 Paris Masters and is expected to have a good campaign in the tournament. He recently reached the quarterfinals of the US Open and the semifinals of the China Open. The Paris Masters can potentially mark his return to form.
