German tennis ace Alexander Zverev could not believe his joke about replacing Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes would come true as he shared a hilarious reaction after the news about the Briton switching to Ferrari broke out.

As it has been decided that Hamilton will switch to Ferrari in the 2025 season, Zverev reshared the video where he introduces himself as Mercedes’ reserve driver.

In the video, Zverev introduced himself as the reserved driver for Mercedes and then claimed that he would replace Hamilton from the next season onwards. Now, after the news about Hamilton breaking his year-long partnership with Mercedes to move to Ferrari broke out, Zverev shared the video. He also wrote a caption where he expressed his feelings about his joke coming true. Zverev also joked about being ready to join the Mercedes F1 team.

Well, this aged well. @netflix FYI, @mercedesamgf1 - I’m ready!
Alexander Zverev wrote in the caption of the post.

The funnier thing was that the post was liked by Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc.

Alexander Zverev starts 2024 season on high

While Alexander Zverev may not be able to join the Mercedes F1 team, the German tennis is doing fine enough in his sport. Zverev has started the 2024 season on a high. The 26-year-old started the season with a bang as he helped his team win the United Cup.

Zverev then continued his good run of form at the 2024 Australian Open. He beat Dominic Koepfer in the first round. However, Alexander Zverev had to fight it out against World No.163 Lukas Klein in the second round. In the third round, Zverev eased past Alex Michelsen.

The draw became tougher for the German from the fourth round onwards. Zverev met Cameron Norrie in the fourth round and it was a tough ask for the 26-year-old. Although Zverev managed to win the match in five sets, Norrie did not allow the German to dominate him.

In the quarterfinals, Zverev was tasked to face Carlos Alcaraz and he did well enough. Zverev maintained his impressive head-to-head record against the Spaniard as he beat Alcaraz in four sets. The German entered the semifinals but could not go past Daniil Medvedev and his quest to win the maiden Grand Slam title remained unfulfilled.
