Congrats to all tennis authorities for achieving this. Also congrats to European players who go there, for “multipolar world.
Russian tennis authorities introduced a tennis tournament as an answer to the international sanctions against it
After Russia declared war and started moving in on Ukraine, it faced wide criticism for its invasion plan and received international bans and sanctions in the world of sports as well.
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) also banned all the tennis tournaments and events supposed to be held in Russia, while also banning Russian and Belarusian players from participating in the other tournaments.
In response to this, the Russian tennis authorities have gone ahead and organized a tennis tournament called the “Trophies of the Northern Palmyra,” with its first edition taking place in 2022.
It has also been reported that the President of Russia has played a role in helping to set up such a tournament as a slap to the world sanctions applied to their nation.
