Andre Agassi’s ex-wife Brooke Shields reveals how he ‘duped’ her prior to the release of his book ‘Open’

Recently, Brooke Shields revealed she is no longer in touch with her ex-husband Andre Agassi. The American great, known for being an eight-time Grand Slam champion and Olympic gold medallist, married Shields in 1997 and divorced two years later. Their marriage and subsequent divorce were highly publicized and subject to controversy given the stature of the two celebrities.
In a recent interview, Shields also claimed that Agassi invited her to change his 2010 memoir, ‘Open’, in case of any inaccuracies. The actress spent some time with the former World No.1’s writer as well. In the end, however, Agassi refused to include her changes in the manuscript. The pair have been in little contact since.
Agassi and his staff got in touch with her in the past to confirm some of the information that appeared in his autobiography. Shields claims that she then learned that Agassi would be considering none of her notes since they were inconsistent with his account of their interaction. T The turn of events seemingly surprised the 57-year-old.
“He said, ‘I don’t remember dates but you have diaries and all this stuff, so please help fix the things I don’t remember’,” said Shields. Ultimately, Agassi refused to include her contribution.“Then I got a typed letter about a month later saying, ‘Thank you so much for your time. Unfortunately, I couldn’t change any of the things that you corrected because that’s not how I remember it and it is my book’.” She continued.
Apparently, Agassi used an old tactic to ‘trick’ the Golden Globe nominee. Agassi’s response flabbergasted Shields. It was her editor who explained that ‘it’s the oldest trick in the book’. “…And that indicates that I signed off on it. I got duped in a big way,” said Shields. She is now married to film director Chris Henchy while Agassi is hitched to tennis legend, Steffi Graf.

The pair has a very tumultuous marriage. Shields and Agassi were privy to many problems within their relationship. Recently, Shields also revealed the reason for the pair’s divorce. Moreover, she emphasized Agassi’s ‘controlling’ nature and his anger issues as well, narrating an incident of how he broke all his trophies once.
Shields asserted that Agassi is not someone you should keep in touch with because, as she put it, you’re out when you’re out. “No. I thought we would be. But that’s not the kind of person he is. When you’re out, you’re out.” About Agassi’s book, ‘Open’, Shields also stated, “…he asked me to read all the parts I was in and I thought that was very generous. So I spent five hours with his ghostwriter.”
