Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev has played against both Daniil Medvedev and Carlos Alcaraz. He recently compared the two players to describe the massive difference in the approaches that they use in winning matches.

Rublev said that Alcaraz likes to kill (defeat) his opponent quickly while Medvedev, on the other hand, takes a slower approach. He takes his time and cherishes the moment.

He's like when someone kill you slowly you know and you feel it that you are dying. If Alcaraz kill you fast and sometimes you don't notice, Medvedev is killing you slowly. He's over there, taking his time, enjoying the moment and you feel like you are dying little by little you know

Daniil Medvedev, Carlos Alcaraz, and Andrey Rublev have all been placed in the same group in the ATP Finals 2023 alongside Alexander Zverev, i.e., in the Red Group. Alexander Zverev has already won 2 ATP Finals titles, Medvedev has won two while Rublev and Alcaraz will be seeking their maiden ATP Finals trophy.

Rublev faced Medvedev in his first match of the group stages and suffered a defeat against his Russian compatriot. Rublev, who also suffered a defeat against the same rival recently in the 2023 US Open, had defeated Medvedev in the group stage of the 2022 ATP Finals.

Back then, Medvedev had won the first set but Rublev came back from behind to register a sensational 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 win. Unfortunately, he was not able to replicate that this time as the former World No. 2 won the match 6-4, 6-2.

Andrey Rublev faces Carlos Alcaraz next in the ATP Finals

After suffering a defeat against Medvedev, Rublev will now face Carlos Alcaraz in his next group-stage match. Both the players will head into this match after losing their first match. Thus, it is almost a do-or-die situation for them, as losing the match would also mean giving away their chance of qualifying for the semifinals.

Andrey Rublev and Carlos Alcaraz have never locked horns in major tournaments before. They faced each other once in the ITF Challenger and the Russian had won that match. Thus, it would be very interesting to spectate this match.

In the other match from the group, Zverev will take on Medvedev. The winner of that match will almost certainly secure a spot in the semifinals. The two have faced each other a total of 17 times. Medvedev won 10 of those encounters while Zverev won 7 times.
