A video shared by Ultimate Tennis Showdown shows Diego Schwartzman and Christopher Eubanks discussing world no.5 Andrey Rublev‘s record against the big-4(Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Andy Murray) of men’s tennis. The Russian holds the distinction of managing one tour-level win against each one of them.

Talking about Rublev’s win against the world no.1 in the final of the Serbia Open last year, at the Novak tennis center, Eubanks reminded the Russian that he commentated in that match. Andrey defeated the Serbian legend 6-2,(4)6-7,6-0 to win his 11th tour-level title. The 26-year-old’s sole win against Nadal came in the quarter-final of the Monte Carlo Masters in 2021.

Schwartzman teased the Russian after he mentioned that he had managed a victory against all the members of the Big 4. Rublev won his only encounter against Federer in the round of 16 of the Cincinnati Masters in 2019. The victory against Andy Murray came in the round of 16 of the 2021 Rotterdam Open.

Andrey Rublev throws away a chance to win his second Masters title at the Shanghai Masters

Polish No. 1 Hubert Hurkacz scraped past 5th seed Andrey Rublev after a nail-biting end to the final of the Rolex Shanghai Masters, last week. Hurkacz, the 16th seed, defeated the Russian 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (8) in two hours and nine minutes to win his second Masters title after Miami 2021. With this win, Hurkacz edged past Rublev in the head-to-head, leading 3-2.

Rublev missed out on winning his second Masters title, following his win in Monte-Carlo earlier this year. Moreover, this was Rublev’s 23rd Tour-level final appearance. The Russian’s disappointment at missing out on a significant win was evident as he violently smashed the racquet on his leg after crashing his forehand into the net, handing Hurkacz the title.

The 26-year-old is next in line to qualify for the ATP Finals to be played in Turin, Italy. Currently, he is playing at the Vienna Open where he won his first round encounter in straight sets against Alexei Popyrin. The Russian will face the Italian pro-Matteo Arnaldi in the round of 16 of the competition.
