Second Quarter

The second quarter is a bit packed with Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, Tommy Paul, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and Cameron Norrie drawn together. Among all, Tsitsipas will have all the attention for the reason that he has not won a major title this year so far.

The Greek ace who made it to the finals of the Australian Open and reached the quarterfinals at the French Open has had mediocre outings in tournaments after that. He will face Laslo Djere in the second round and might meet Ugo Humbert in the third.

If all goes well for Stefanos Tsitsipas, he might meet Matteo Arnaldi or Cameron Norrie in the fourth round. In the quarterfinals, the Greek might get to face Andrey Rublev who is expected to easily cruise into the pre-quarterfinals. The Russian has been given a bye in the first round while he is expected to face countryman Aslan Karatsev or Quentin Halys in the second round. In his third-round match, Rublev might meet Adrian Mannarino and then Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the fourth round.

Eighth seed Casper Ruud and third seed Holger Rune headline the third quarter. The two players have been drawn in the two halves of the third quarter. While Ruud faces either Daniel Altmaier or Yoshihito Nishioka in his second-round match, Rune is expected to meet Bernabe Zapata Miralles in the second round. In the third round, Rune might meet Tomas Martin Etcheverry while Ruud can expect Christopher Eubanks as his third-round opponent.

Fourth Quarter

The fourth and last quarter of the ATP Shanghai Masters is the most packed one with as many as six players from the top 20 seeds drawn in the quarter. Among them, defending champion Daniil Medvedev and sixth seed Jannik Sinner are the ones to watch out for. Also, Alexander Zverev, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Ben Shelton will be top contenders for the quarterfinals. Jannik Sinner might face 25th seed Sebastian Baez in his third-round match.

Meanwhile, Alexander Zverev and Andy Murray will meet each other in the second round and the winner is expected to meet Ben Shelton in the third round. Zverev is expected to topple the American and book himself a clash with Sinner in what will be a re-match of the 2023 US Open pre-quarters. Daniil Medvedev, meanwhile, will be waiting for Canadian Felix-Auger Aliassime in the fourth round and is expected to meet one of Sinner or Zverev in the quarterfinal.

Quarterfinals prediction for the fourth quarter: Daniil Medvedev vs. Jannik Sinner.

In the first semifinal, Carlos Alcaraz might meet Stefanos Tsitsipas while Daniil Medvedev is expected to meet Casper Ruud in the second semifinal.

Alcaraz might ease past Tsitsipas considering the head-to-head record between them. The Spaniard leads it 5-0. In the second semifinal, Daniil Medvedev would not have much trouble beating Sinner who trails 0-6 in the head-to-head record.

It is expected to be a faceoff between Daniil Medvedev and Carlos Alcaraz in the final. It is expected to be a thrilling contest as the head-to-head record between two players stands level at 2-2.

On hard court as well, it is 1-1. However, considering his recent form, Medvedev might just topple the Spaniard and successfully defend his crown in Shanghai.
