It was a rare sight to see Andy Murray and Gael Monfils on the same court once again. The duo has been plagued with a number of injuries over the last few years. Both of them finally shared a sweet moment together prior to the main draw matches in Indian Wells. The first round of matches is set to begin on Wednesday.

Murray decided to skip the Dubai Championships in order to be in shape for the Sunshine Double in the US. Monfils, on the other hand, rejoined the sport after having an injury-filled 2022 season. The Frenchman will make his 2023 season debut at the Indian Wells tournament after playing only eight events last year.

Murray played two five-set matches in the Australian Open as well as saved multiple match points to proceed to the final in Doha. To use his protected ranking for the French Open, the Frenchman decided to skip the opening Grand Slam in January.

Stubbs implored her followers to cherish the Scotsman’s remaining years of competition rather than focus on how many wild cards he may win.

She also mentioned that Murray provides the ‘entertainment factor’ in his way of playing. “He is one of the greatest players we have had in the last two decades. So if he wants 55 wildcards, give them to him. As far as I’m concerned, that’s my opinion.” Stubbs also said.
