Former World Number 1 Andy Murray recently gave his opinion on the soon-to-be-released Netflix documentary Break Point. The Scotsman said that he found the level of access the tour gave Netflix “interesting.” He then compared it to the lack of access granted to him by Wimbledon and the US Open for his documentary which was released in 2019.
Replying to a tweet by journalist Stuart Fraser, Murray wrote,” Was interesting to see the sheer volume of people following the players around the tournaments/slams. Big crews. Given all access. Stark contrast to when my documentary was getting filmed a couple years ago and Wimbledon/us open couldn’t have been any less accommodating ? ?.”
Andy Murray’s documentary titled Andy Murray: Resurfacing was released on Amazon Prime in late 2019. The film captures Murray’s devastating hip injury and the subsequent surgery and rehabilitation. It received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. The documentary is full of raw moments as we watch Murray struggle with his recovery.
Netflix’s documentary will be different from Murray’s offering. It will be a 10-part docuseries to start with. The players featured in the series are the younger stars who have not touched Murray’s peaks yet. Break Point will give viewers behind-the-scenes looks into the lives of Nick Kyrgios, Maria Sakkari, and Taylor Fritz among others, while on tour. Break Point releases on the 13th of January, days before the Australian Open.
Murray will be aiming for a good performance in Melbourne. The two-time Melbourne Park finalist believes he can still reach the heights he reached his peak and is aiming to shock the world and contend for the Slams. His quest to do this will begin on the 16th of January in the first round of the Open.
Andy Murray says he’s one big injury from retiring
Three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray said he would play as long as his body remains in good shape. The Scotsman has had a terrible time with injuries. Having had a painful hip replacement surgery in 2018 and 2019, Murray has slowly built himself up. He seems to have found some of his old form back and had a decent 2022.
The two-time Wimbledon champion rose in the ATP rankings from a lowly 150 to finish the year as 49th ranked. He also participated in three majors for the first time since 2018. However, the 35-year-old has said he will not go on if he picks up another significant injury.
His self-belief and aim for another run at the Grand Slam titles will keep him going in the 2023 season. Though his first tournament of the year did not go well, Murray will be hoping to turn his fortunes at the Australian Open.
