Briton’s former World No.1 Andy Murray has suffered yet another crushing defeat. This time it was against the Bulgarian World No.19 Grigor Dimitrov in the second round of the US Open. The scoreline looks really disappointing for the Briton as he got dismantled in straight sets: 3-6, 4-6, 1-6. The defeat doesn’t seem to make any of his fans happy, as it is seen from the social media comments.
There were tweets asking Murray to retire as they were fed up seeing the Briton’s downfall all over again. Murray has shown good progress after the hip injury, but he always failed to deliver consecutively on big stages now. In Wimbledon too, he fell short in the second round. But that match was quite intense, and the Briton was able to take two sets off the Greek World No.7 Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Even with the setback, Murray has already said a number of times that he will continue playing as he wishes without looking at the results. It will be interesting to see whether he will have any changes in mind after yet another early exit.
Social media reacts with no mercy on Andy Murray
The Briton legend Andy Murray has already won enough accolades a tennis player could dream of, but since the hip injury comeback, he has been hurting the sentiments of his fans one after another.
Even though he plays great in some matches, like in Wimbledon, the lack of consistency is definitely not helping him. The sentiments were so clear from the tweets as fans asked him to retire in most of them.
