Andy Murray fires a savage jibe at Piers Morgan as Lionel Messi leads Argentina to the World Cup title

Former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray fired a savage tweet last night targeted at the TalkTV host Piers Morgan, following Argentina’s historic World Cup triumph over the defending champion France with Lionel Messi leading from the front. Murray’s tweet was directed at Morgan’s prediction of France beating Argentina and Messi ending up ‘crying.’
In one of the most incredible and thrilling World Cup finals, Argentina defeated the two-time champion France, ending 36 years of a long wait. After being behind for most of the time, France made a stunning comeback in the game, thanks to two back-to-back goals from Kylian Mbappe in the last ten minutes of regular time. Eventually, it was Messi who got his hands on the coveted golden trophy following the heroics of Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez in the penalty shoot-out.
Tweeting before the match, Morgan had said, “PREDICTION: France will beat Argentina 3-1 to win the World Cup. Mbappe will score twice, Griezmann will be MoM and Messi will cry.” Though his prediction about Mbappe proved to be correct as the French forward scored a hat-trick, on Messi and the overall result, he ended up being a laughing stock.
“Not sure that @FIFAWorldCup could have gone any worse for you @piersmorgan”, Murray wrote, mocking the television host.
Murray and Morgan have been locking horns with each other during the entire World Cup. Earlier too, in Argentina’s match against Poland, Morgan mocked Murray on Twitter after the Polish goalkeeper denied Messi a goal in a penalty shootout. But, in the end, it was Murray who had the last laugh and he did it in a savage manner.
