While many fans fanboy/fangirl over a certain athlete, there have been multiple instances where even famous athletes fanboy over others. Andy Murray is an example of just that as he recently recalls his time in Barcelona, fanboying Brazilian footballer Ronaldinho.

Former Brazilian great Ronaldinho Gaucho was one of the best players to play for Brazil and back then, he was an absolute treat to watch. Murray, who was in Barcelona to train, witnessed the great in action and was just awestruck, capturing that moment forever in his head. He praises Ronaldinho for always smiling and that it was a feast to his eyes to watch his favorite player train before the match started.

Meanwhile, Murray was training in Barcelona at that time before turning pro in 2005 and going on to become one of the biggest names in tennis. He gave tight competition to the best players of the 2010 decade, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer to place himself at the top. Other than giving a tight competition, the Brit even managed to win against them and even ranked himself as number 1 a couple of times becoming an icon for many players.

Here is what Andy Murray posted on X:

My favourite athlete growing up. When I moved to Barcelona to train at 15 I got the chance to watch him live a bunch of times. Absolute genius. Always smiling. I’d arrive early at the stadium just to watch him warm up as he’d be doing ridiculous skills/tricks like in the video.

Andy Murray was seen playing some fabulous shots ahead of the 2024 season

Former world number 1 Andy Murray had a forgetful 2023 season, as he was clearly not in his best form. After returning from the injury, the Brit was unable to get back to his old ways and lost a few matches in the process. However, the 36-year-old was seen playing some fabulous shots in a video ahead of the 2024 season hinting at his possible improvement since last year. He was able to precisely hit a bottle on a forehand showcasing the skill as well as luck behind the shot.

2024 is approaching faster than ever and the Brit would hope to see some improvement in his game since last year. He also split with his longtime coach who had helped him win a couple of Grand Slams in his long career.

With the young blood in the sport growing in strength, every player is in the race to become the best and Murray would hope to do the same even at his age. All the questions will be answered at the start of 2024.
