In a rather interesting take, Andy Murray has revealed that he began using Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer-style rackets because they gave ‘easier depth to the ball’. The British star who began using his style of racquet in 2021 has now changed to his peers’ style.

In a recent interview with Tennis TV, the 36-year-old revealed that the setup of Novak and Federer rackets gives the ball a slightly higher angle.
I've always played with natural gut in the cross strings of my racket. And in the off-season, I changed to the main strings of my racket, which is a setup that Novak uses and Federer used. It probably gives a little bit easier depth to the ball. The ball comes off the racket slightly higher angle than when I've played with it the other times. And I like it.The two-time Wimbledon champion said
For the uninitiated, Andy Murray earned his first Grand Slam title after defeating Novak Djokovic in the final of the 2012 US Open.
That’s not all; he was even regarded as one of the top players who made life difficult for the Big Three on the court in his twenties. However, now at the same age as Djokovic, the Briton’s form has depleted, as he has been facing major setbacks on the court.
Nevertheless, he has proven to doubters several times how much he is willing to defy the odds and play. In 2021, he suffered a career-ending hip problem, but he returned to court after surgery and rehabilitation.
Murray earned his first win of the 2024 season in Doha after defeating Alexander Muller in the Qatar Open. Though he lost to the finalist Jakub Mensik, the British star would be hoping to do better in the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis championship.
Andy Murray admits it was tough playing against Djokovic
Andy Murray has admitted that it was unbelievably tough against Novak Djokovic. Murray who played against the Serbian 36 times and lost 25, winning only 11 truly understands Novak’s style of play.

Djokovic defeated the Briton 11 times in a final and lost 8. Djokovic now has 24 Grand Slam titles, 21 more than Murray.
Obviously [it is] unbelievably tough. I have obviously played lots of finals against him and it was extremely difficult for me even when we’d sort of grown up together and had a lot of experience of playing against him in major competitions.Murray said
Murray will be hoping to climb to the top 30 before June. At the time of writing, the British legend is 50 in the ATP Live rankings, and with more wins in tournaments, he will likely climb higher than the Top 30 mark.
