Andy Roddick’s serve

Last month, superstar coaches Brad Gilbert and Patrick Mouratoglou had opined on who according to them is the best servers in the sport. They assessed some of the best players and analyzed their serve. Both the players choose consider many names and as was expected their list differed from one another.

There was one name which both the coaches considered in their rankings. That name is Andy Roddick. His serve was compared with some of the illustrious names who played the sport such as Boris Becker, Pete Sampras, and Roger Federer.

But the US Open 2003 champion does not agree with them. According to him, Goran Ivanišević, Ivo Karlović, and Wayne Arthurs had a better serve than him. He also included Pete Sampras and does not believe he can be ranked higher than them in the list.

My serve wasn’t better than Pete, Goran, Karlovic etc ….. Also someone like Arthurs who didn’t have much else. Doesn’t mean his serve wasn’t one of the best,” the caption read.

Andy Roddick is the only American player in last twenty years to win a Major. The former World No.1 was also included in the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2017. However, he continues to have modest and humble opinions about himself.
