Andy Roddick believes that the younger generation of players will continue to push Novak Djokovic until he retires. The Serbian, who has won 71 big titles, including a record 24 Grand Slam titles, has continued to prove how great a player he is.

But with the rise of younger players like Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and Holger Rune defeating him in the last few months, Roddick believes they will figure out a way to beat Djokovic more consistently.

The Serbian 33-match winning streak at the Australian Open came to an end when he fell to a 1-6, 2-6, 7-6, 3-6 defeat against 22-year-old Jannik Sinner.

Andy Roddick, who played against Novak Djokovic between 2007 and 2012 and never won one of their nine meetings, had a conversation with journalist Jon Wertheim in an episode of ‘Served With Andy Roddick’.

Andy Roddick said that once this new generation knows they can beat Novak Djokovic, they’re not going to revert to thinking he’s unbeatable.

He kind of limped out of this Australian Open a little bit, you know, through no fault of his own, the guy’s been better than anyone on Earth, and it's gonna happen. But I'm a little concerned… one, he's not getting younger when it turns, it turns quickly also, he has guys that can punch him in the mouth, you know, he has this new generation that once they know they can beat him, they're not going to revert to the mentality that there's no way to beat him.

In Wimbledon last year, Carlos Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic in an epic five-set thriller, winning his second major title. The Spaniard beat Djokovic again at an exhibition game in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, making it two defeats against Alcaraz in six months.

Novak Djokovic not thinking about retirement

Novak Djokovic has revealed that he wants to see how the season goes before talking about retirement. With Roger Federer retired and Rafael Nadal looking close to joining his friend, only Djokovic still believes he can win more titles at 36.

The Serbian succumbed to a shocking defeat against Jannik Sinner in the semifinals of the Australian Open.

Let's see what happens in the rest of the season. I still have high hopes for other slams, Olympics, and whatever tournaments that I'll play. This tournament hasn't been up to my standard but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's beginning of the end. We’ll see whether something will change, in this stage of my life and my career some surprising decisions are maybe more expected compared to twenty years ago.
Djokovic said after the loss to Sinner.

There are rumors that Djokovic may either feature at the Dubai Tennis Championship or the Indian Wells. The Serbian is not going to be with his country’s team ahead of the Davis Cup qualifying rounds.
