‘Are we this dumb?’ Andy Roddick rebukes Republican Lauren Boebert for a stupid analogy on the Texas School shooting
Lauren Boebert, Andy Roddick
The school shooting in Texas has shocked the world and brought forth the matter of regular guns violation in America to a bigger perspective. The incident is deeply saddening, and it has fueled a very high demand for a ban on weapons and much more strict gun laws.
The people are grieving, and others have lent support to the victims of the affected families. There is a lot of rage regarding such easy availability of guns and their recurring misuse. A few weeks before, there was another shooting in a supermarket in Buffalo, New York.
The demand for a ban on the sales of guns to the common public is rising rapidly, and many celebrities have lent their voices for the same. Many politicians have jumped in on this campaign, but some people aren’t all for the gun ban. There might have more logical arguments than the one given here: Lauren Boebert from the Republican House of Representatives said, “When 9/11 happened, we didn’t ban planes.”
The statement doesn’t need to be heard twice to understand that the analogy is ridiculous. But Boebert and her husband own a restaurant called Shooter’s Grill in Rifle, Colorado, where the staff members are asked to openly carry guns, so it isn’t surprising that she’s against the gun ban. But, the surprise is only about the illogical defense she put forth for the ban.
Andy Roddick blown away by such a stupid statement.
The former world number 1, Andy Roddick, has not taken this analogy too well. In a time when gun misuse has become so frequent, the flimsy and illogical defense by Boebert was bound to get some heat. It was a ‘hit me’ statement, and Roddick obliged. Roddick too to Twitter to share his opinion on this shocking statement by Boebert. Roddick wrote, “I can’t believe this is real. But it is. Are we this dumb or we are we just this intellectually dishonest?”
The shooting incident deserves a lot of attention and scrutiny to see what changes the government should implement to curb any similar incidents in the future.
