A funny series of tweets broke out on Twitter after Aryna Sabalenka forgot to mention atmosphere in her speech at the post-match conference.

Aryna Sabalenka earns a thumping win in the finals of the Australian Open to win her second consecutive Australian Open title. The Belarusian was up against the Chinese 12th seed, Qinwen Zheng, on Saturday. 

Sabalenka didn’t take long to beat Zheng in straight sets to successfully defend her title. She became the first woman to successfully defend her title since 2013 when the feat was achieved by Victoria Azarenka.

However, a funny turn of events broke out after the post-match interview. Sabalenka thanked her team and also wished good luck to her opponent, Qinwen Zheng. However, she forgot to thank the atmosphere in the arena and the fans. Interestingly enough, this broke out a funny series of tweets from the fans.

The Belarusian has been very appreciative of the crowd and the atmosphere in Australia in the recent past. She even claimed once that if she had gotten this amount of support during the US Open in 2023, she would have won the tournament.

With this win, Aryna Sabalenka adds her name to the list of players who have won the Australian Open without dropping a single set. A list consisting of legends such as Serena Williams and Ash Barty. Her dominance on the hard courts of Australia remains as she seals her 14th consecutive win in the Australian Open.
