It’s my first priority, I would say; I really want it,” she answered when she was asked about how important being World No.1 is for her.

She’s doing really well, she’s moving better than anybody else, she’s tough and it’s going to be really tough, and that’s why I really want to achieve it. World No.2 is living through the best phase of her life. Last year during the first couple of months of the season, she was struggling with her serves. She soon took the help of biomechanics coach Gavin MacMillan, and he helped her to improve. Soon, she was hitting the balls in the right places.

Aryna Sabalenka finished last year in the Top 5 of the WTA rankings. Although she lost against Caroline Garcia in the championship match of the WTA Finals 2022, that performance gave her huge confidence. She carried this confidence into the 2023 season. The 24-year-old won the 2023 Adelaide International 1 tournament by beating Linda Noskova in the final.

She then participated in the 2023 Australian Open and defeated 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in the final despite losing the first set. The scoreline read 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in favor of the Belarusian player. She will be starting her campaign in the 2023 WTA Dubai Tennis Championships by playing against Lauren Davis in the first round.
