Belarusian tennis ace Aryna Sabalenka did not have the expected outing at the Dubai Tennis Championships as the World No. 2 bowed out of the WTA 1000 event after a defeat in the first round. Sabalenka was defeated by Donna Vekic in three sets of 7-6, 3-6, 0-6. It was a heartbreak for the reigning Australian Open champion.

However, Sabalenka is not thinking too much about the failure in the tournament as she focuses on the quality of time spent in the Middle Eastern country. Sabalenka shared some pictures from her stay in Dubai and said that she had fun.

Aryna Sabalenka back to drawing board after defeat in Dubai

While Aryna Sabalenka was over the moon with her second consecutive title win in Australia, the Belarusian is back on the drawing board after an early exit in Dubai. The 25-year-old lost her sixth match to Donna Vekic, and it was a shocking one.

Sabalenka did not drop a set en route to her title win in Melbourne but she looked clueless against Vekic. Getting a bagel to lose the game was nothing less than a humiliation for the two-time Grand Slam champion. Although Sabalenka blamed the loss on the ‘fast conditions’ in Dubai, the World No. 2 will be desperate for a comeback.

The 25-year-old is expected to return to action at the Indian Wells. It will be another major challenge for Sabalenka who was the runner-up at the WTA 1000 tournament last year. The Belarusian will be eyeing nothing less than a title after what happened in Dubai.
