Aryna Sabalenka thanks ‘Supermom’ Caroline Wozniacki for showing the path to play even after childbirth

After winning her first-round match at Wimbledon, Aryna Sabalenka expressed immense respect by congratulating former tennis players Ash Barty and Caroline Wozniacki for returning to professional tennis after becoming mothers. As per the tennis professional herself, it’s not easy to return to your passion after giving birth. She also said she respects them a lot and that it’s good to see them succeed.
For context, Sabalenka had a smooth match against the Hungarian player Panna Udvardy, as she won in straight sets by 6-3, 6-1, in her first round at Wimbledon. After this win, the Belarussian tennis player briefly talked about Ash Barty giving birth and Caroline Wozniacki coming back to professional tennis.
At the press conference, Aryna spoke about how she thanked Ash and Caroline for giving her the conviction that she can always return to tennis if one day she decides to become a mother and start a family.
She said, “I respect them a lot. It must be very difficult to reconcile having a child and playing tennis. I focus on tennis. They have to find a balance, which is not easy. I really respect the fact that they know how to do it and that they succeed. It also gives me the conviction that if one day I want to be a mother, I will always have the possibility of coming back and playing tennis. So I thank them for that.”
She also thanked them for showing other female tennis players that balancing a family and tennis is very much possible. ‘’It also gives me the conviction that if one day I want to be a mother, I will always have the possibility of coming back and playing tennis. So I thank them for that,” said Aryna.

Aryna Sablenka further talked about the possibility of continuing tennis even after becoming a mother. Moreover, the 25-year-old even contemplated how it must be very difficult to reconcile having a child and playing tennis side by side.
Aryna said that one day if she chooses to be a mother she will have that choice of always returning to the court and does not have to give up one for the other. She congratulated Ashley Barty who just gave birth to her first son and Caroline Wozniacki who announced her return to professional tennis after giving birth to her second son last year.
Sabalenka will be facing off 22-year-old Varvara Gracheva in her second round of the Wimbledon.
