Alex de Minaur started the season by reaching the Round of 16 of the Australian Open and then made it to the quarterfinal at Rotterdam. He then had a decent clay-court season where he reached the semifinals at Barcelona and Lyon but was knocked out of the first round at Roland Garros. He then had a very good outing at Wimbledon where he reached the Round of 16. In Atlanta this week, De Minaur eased past James Duckworth in the Round of 16 and Adrian Mannarino in the last 8. In the semifinals, he defeated Ilya Ivashka in three sets 5-7,6-2,6-2 to reach the Atlanta Open final for the second time.

Jenson Brooksby is one of the most talented young players on tour but still hasn’t lived up to his potential yet. He started the year by reaching the final of the Dallas Open where he lost to Reilly Opelka and also made it to the Round of 16 of the Indian Wells Masters where he stunned Stefanos Tsitsipas en route. He followed it up with another Round of 16 outing in Miami but didn’t have a great clay court or grass court season. This week in Atlanta, he defeated the likes of Benoit Paire, Mackenzie McDonald, and John Isner before beating Frances Tiafoe in the semifinals in straight sets 6-1,6-4.
