The excitement in the tennis community is at an all-time high as the season-ending ATP Finals is finally going to start in a couple of days. The ATP Finals is one of the most prestigious tournaments after the four Grand Slams, with the Top 8 players in the ATP Rankings going head-on against each other. Both the cash prize and the number of points will be highest in this competition just behind the four majors.
Now, as the date for the start of the competition is nearing, everyone is betting on their favorites. Even the ATP President Andrea Gaudenzi expressed his desire to witness a head-on clash between arch-rivals Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. In the most recent interview, Gaudenzi talked about the potential clash between generations in the ATP Finals and also predicted that the finals might happen between none other than Serbian legend Novak Djokovic and tennis great Rafael Nadal.
“It is difficult to give a favorite, I like the clash between generations and there is a lot at stake: Nadal has never won the ATP Finals, Djokovic many times, and we have two rookies. With such a climate it is impossible to give a favorite however, whatever the outcome will be a great show. We have the two legends, the clash between the titans, separated so it could potentially be the final, and the new generation,” he said in an interview.
The ATP Finals will be played this time in the beautiful Italian city of Turin. The champion will take a whopping $4,740,300 in prize money if he remains undefeated throughout the week. He will also get 1500 points for his efforts.
