The perks of being a Grand Slam champion are just being realized by Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka. While the Belarusian did win her first singles Major in 2023, she is still in the process of adding more titles to her name.

The 2024 Australian Open singles champions were recently presented with a unique gift from the tournament. Apart from their individual trophies, the two were also given the initial copies of the largest tennis book ever created.

UK-based published OPUS and the Australian Open have collaborated to create the ‘Australian Open Opus’. It is a pictorial-based book that contains 80 ‘unforgettable moments’ that have taken place in the history of the Grand Slam event.

It’s a collection of breathtaking photographs, insightful interviews of the champions who have won the title, and unprecedented photo essays. The book has been hand-bound and is covered in luxurious blue leather that resembles the hallowed courts of Melbourne Park.

This is a magnificent body of work never attempted before in the history of tennis. It is a stunning portrayal of the Australian Open filled with memorable moments and celebrating great AO champions.
Said Tennis Australia’s CEO Craig Tiley praising the book.

The AO Opus is nothing but luxury

The AO Opus has been made with utmost attention to detail to ensure it speaks highly of the tournament. The Australian Open, also known as the ‘Happy Slam’, is one of the most watched sporting events.

Keeping this in mind, the book has been made in a similar manner. The book has been completely designed in England, measures 45cm x 4cm square, weighs heavy at 32 kilos, and is printed on heavyweight 200 gsm silk paper.

As per the official record, ‘a 5-mm thick chrome-plated AO logo elegantly adorns the cover of the Opus and is complemented by silver foil lettering on the spine and gloss mirror-finish gilding on the edges of the page.’

We hope that people from all over the world, particularly younger fans, are excited and inspired to see such great moments from such a special Grand Slam tournament presented and captured in this way.
Said Karl Fowler, CEO OPUS.

The book will be made available in two sizes. The big size is called the ‘Marquee Edition’ while a smaller ‘Classic’ edition will be a 400-page collection. The official prices and purchasing information are yet to be disclosed.

But fans can certainly expect the likes of Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic to feature, given that both are the most successful title winners at AO in the Open Era. 6-time champion Roger Federer, who, with his 2018 title, became the oldest men’s Grand Slam winner, also makes a good case.

Tennis Australia and OPUS have yet to reveal which players do make an appearance in the book; that’s definitely going to be a historic collection.
