The 2024 Australian Open men’s singles finals has already been cemented as one of the most epic Grand Slam finals in history. The 22-year-old World No. 4 Jannik Sinner was up against World No. 3 Daniil Medvedev eyeing his debut Major title. After a tough start, he has staged one of the biggest comebacks.

Sinner won the match 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 after a long duel of 3 hours and 44 minutes on a packed Rod Laver Arena. This is the second time Medvedev has blown a 2-0 lead in the Australian Open final and it will surely haunt him. As for Sinner, there couldn’t have been a better way to win his maiden Major.

As the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was announced in the list of dignitaries present, the crowd at Rod Laver Arena started a massive wave of booing.

The politician and tournament organizers were left red-faced as they were in no position to control the crowd. The presenter had no chance but to wait for the crowd to get silent before he could start speaking again and continue with the ceremony.

Former PM Scott Morrison’s comments resurface as Anthony Albanese gets booed

The Australian crowd is often called the toughest by tennis players to win over. Novak Djokovic, Medvedev, Nick Kyrgios, and many others over the years have found themselves in altercations with the spectators.

Medvedev famously retorted at the Aussie crowd after his 2022 finals loss to Rafael Nadal. He had accused and then thanked them for killing the child within him due to constant booing throughout the finals.

In light of today’s event, the comments of former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison found themselves viral yet again.

It's a great tradition. I would be disappointed if they didn't. Bob Hawke and everyone else got the same treatment at games.
Morrison had said back in 2019 after being booed at the Australian Open.

While the booing was ugly for the politician to face, maybe he just tasted what the players go through during the fortnight of the Grand Slam.
