Megan Lucky, the viral beer-guzzling US Open fan, was unfortunate this year after failing to make it onto the jumbotron at Flushing Meadows. Lucky, 27, rose to social media fame in 2021 after downing a disposable pint of beer in less than seven seconds on the big screen during a third-round match between Roberto Bautista Agut and Felix Auger Aliassime at Louis Armstrong Stadium.
As expected, Megan Lucky went instantly viral on multiple social media platforms, eliciting a plethora of reactions online. At the time of writing, the viral Beer girl has over 115k followers on her official Instagram handle alone.
Then, a year later, she did it again at the same place. However, this time with the courtside cameras trained on her. Despite having second thoughts about returning for a third time, Lucky did so on Friday night.
Her absence was highlighted by the lack of a viral moment captured on camera throughout the coverage. Tennis has a traditionally buttoned-up persona, and the unconventional conduct immediately spread on social media and even made its way onto ESPN.
Lucky has since taken to social media to clarify the situation. Addressing them in a video on Instagram, Lucky said: “OK, guys, I just wanted to address the elephant in the room real quick. I obviously went to the US Open this weekend, and for whatever reason, whoever was in charge did not want me on the jumbotron this year.”

She further continued by saying that she was unaware of the reason why she was not shown on the big screen. The reason was not shared with her but she added that she was happy she attended and has now made peace with it.
“I know the universe has a plan for me, and like I said last time, beer girl is a part of me, and maybe I’ll take her to another sport that wants her fun-loving energy soon, so look out for that.”
The Sunday post is captioned, “I love you all, thanks for always supporting me and being my biggest fans xoxo see you soon,” and is accompanied by a winky face emoji.
