Daniil Medvedev will be able to defend his title at the US Open later this year, thanks to the organisers’ decision to allow Russian and Belarusian players to compete at Flushing Meadows, but Novak Djokovic, the three-time US Open champion, is poised to endure yet another Grand Slam lockout.
According to the New York Times, Novak Djokovic will be denied entry into the United States because he is an ‘unvaccinated foreigner.’ While he did play in the United States earlier this year following the Australian Open, at Indian Wells and Miami, the rules are expected to alter before the start of the US Open in 2022.

“No words to describe the feeling, I am pissed”- Andreea Prissacariu on Novak Djokovic not being allowed to play

Many people from all across the world have rallied behind the Serb. No. 310 in the world Andreea Prisacariu has backed Djokovic as well, calling the scenario “horrible.” “I read that Nole has many chances NOT to play the US Open. What in the name of Jesus??? This whole situation is beyond horrible. Got no words to describe the feeling. I am pissed,” Prisacariu tweeted.
The 35-year-old Serb will be unable to enter the United States unless the rules alter before the event begins on August 29. Another alternative is for Novak Djokovic to receive a special exemption, but the tournament administrators, the United States Tennis Association (USTA), have decided not to request government exemptions for unvaccinated players.
