Boris Becker and Novak Djokovic share a great relationship. The German coach had mentored Djokovic between 2014 and 2016 and they won 6 Grand Slam titles together.

Even after parting ways, the two have always been on great terms and Becker is one of the biggest pro-Novak people in the tennis world currently. The former German World No. 1 recently took up a new job as Holger Rune’s coach.

Due to his good relations with the Serb, Becker was able to arrange a special meeting between him, Rune, and Djokovic during the ATP Finals media day, where they shared some useful insights with the Danish youngster. The Dane recently gave the World No.1 some great competition in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Paris Masters.

Rune posted a picture of their special meet on Instagram with the caption: “​​3 musketeers, 3 generations.” The Dane later also revealed that they talked about tennis and he got some great advice from the two legends. 

To learn from Boris and get advice from Novak is really helping me progress. They understand the pressures of the top level from their own experiences. 

Becker shared to post on his story with the caption: “Nice chat about Christmas,” which he wrote with sarcastic undertone. The German has already had a positive impact on Holger Rune’s performance ever since taking up the role of his coach.

The Danish player who had been out of form for a long time, reached the semifinals of the Swiss Indoors and the quarterfinals of the 2023 Paris Masters recently. Thus, he is definitely coming back in form.

Holger Rune faces Novak Djokovic in the first round of the ATP Finals 2023 

Rune has been placed in the Green group of the 2023 ATP Finals alongside Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Jannik Sinner. The top two players from each group at the end of the group stages will proceed to the semifinals. The Dane will face World No. 1 in his first match of the tournament.

Rune and Djokovic recently met each other in the quarterfinal of the 2023 Paris Masters, and it was an extremely close match. In the end, Djokovic ended up winning it 7-5, 6-7(7), 6-4.

The two players have a pretty even record against each other. They have met each other four times, winning two each.
