Boris Becker, the former tennis legend from Germany is one of the greatest players who had dominated men’s tennis for almost 15 years. He retired from the sport with 49 ATP singles titles and six Grand Slam singles titles. He shot to fame by winning Wimbledon just at the age of 17.
Becker had a fantastic career in tennis in such a short span of time but landed up in a lot of controversies, especially with the legal case upon him of hiding assets to evade paying tax. He was declared bankrupt and had to even auction his awards and personal belongings to raise money to pay off debt.
He was founded guilty of four charges in 2022 and was sent on a 30-month punishment term in prison for his offenses. His lawyer Oliver Moser, speaking to Bild revealed the retired German is popular in prison and dons the hat of a teacher and gives lessons to his inmates on topics like fitness, nutrition, medication, yoga, and other things.
Moser further revealed that his client is slowly adjusting and adjusting to the prison environment but cannot disclose many details about his imprisoned life in order to respect his personal privacy and according to the laws as well. He said, “Our client, Boris Becker, continues to do well under the circumstances and he has constructively integrated himself into daily prison life.“

Boris Becker commenced his punishment from HM Prison Wandsworth but was later transferred to HM Prison Huntercombe indicating that he will be deported from the UK at the end of his sentence. The former world number one shares his life experiences with his prison inmates. He has his own cell and is allowed to make phone calls as per his wish.
The 3-time French Open champion is serving his 30-month punishment against four charges of tax fraud and hiding assets worth £4.5M to avoid paying the debt after being bankrupt in 2017. He was forced to auction off 82 items from his personal collection including the 1989 US Open trophy which was the only time he won in New York.
