Boris Becker, a former World No. 1 himself, hailed current World No. 1 Novak Djokovic. In a recent interview on Eurosports, the German praised the Serbian for his outstanding run in 2023.
For context, Djokovic started the year with a stunning comeback at the Australian Open, then followed it with a win at the French Open. He also came extremely close to winning at Wimbledon but fell short to the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. Even at the age of 36, the Serbian is running strong, and Becker praises his commitment to the sport.

As per Becker himself, the current World No. 1 is a ‘lion king’ who is currently playing the best tennis of his life, even at the age of 36. Furthermore, the former tennis player stressed the achievements and fans-following Djokovic has gained in his 16–17 years of illustrious career.
For me, he is the lion king. We do our best to teach tennis fans what is impossible to teach: What this player has won in his 16 or 17-year career and that he is perhaps playing his best tennis at the age of 36.Becker said on Eurosports
Becker continues to praise Djokovic and believes that the youngsters are privileged to be playing alongside the most successful player in the history of tennis. With the kind of form the Serbian has always been in throughout the many years, he has achieved a lot, and one can hope he continues to do the same in the future.
Boris Becker compares Novak Djokovic with the likes of Lionel Messi and Tom Brady
Novak Djokovic has always been one of the biggest names in the sport. He has achieved so much in the sport that he is considered to be in the bracket of elite sportsmen.
Boris Becker further categorized Djokovic under the category featuring some of the most legendary players in their respective sports, including the likes of Lionel Messi and Tom Brady. Furthermore, as a former professional tennis player himself, Djokovic has been dominating tennis even in the mid or late thirties, much like Lionel Messi, LeBron James, and Tom Brady.

Maybe you have to look at it more generally and he's not just the best tennis player at the moment, but the best sportsman. I want to compare him to a Lionel Messi, a LeBron James, and a Tom Brady - for me, that's the category Novak Djokovic is in because all these athletes are dominating or have dominated their sport even in their mid or late thirties.
The 36-year-old recently won the ATP Finals and is now seen alongside the Serbian team playing in the Davis Cup. He helped them beat Great Britain in the quarterfinals. However, he lost to Jannik Sinner twice in the day to see Serbia out of the race for the title. Nonetheless, Djokovic has had a phenomenal season, and fans will only expect more from him in the next season.
